We all know that there is CS:GO and there are skins in CS:GO, but how do they work? Let’s try to find the truth!
Skins are only customizations, they won’t affect your skill.CS:GO is not Pay 2 Win game, this is all about Pay to Be Fany.
So, how to make your gun beautiful?
First of all – there are weapon models. All skins are the result of applying an art (pattern) on the 3D weapon model. Exception – knives, but we’ll come back to them later.
The final value and look of the skin is determined by it’s pattern type and float. If you want to learn more about the float, here’s an article.
Patterns, or skin arts that are applied on the weapon models, can be divided into two categories – Constant and Dynamic.
- First you take an AK-47 3D model
2) Then you add a pattern. As you can see – constant patterns are very detailed and specific about their place on 3D model.
Dynamic patterns, on the other hand, are not so detailed. That’s because it has no special pieces that are bound to 3D model, instead – the art is applied randomly, This is why each gun is unique and there’s usually a chance to find and extra rate and expensive pattern. Let’s take a closer look at AK-47 | Case Hardened.
1) First, you take an AK-47 3D model
2) Then you apply your pattern. But this one is totally randomized.
3) In the end, you can get your regular Ak-47 Case Hardened
Or you can get lucky and receive a rare pattern, such as a blue gem (full blue top):
All the skins are applied in either constant or dynamical way, but there are no changes in the model itself.
There is, however, very rare and expensive items that are capable of changing in-game models. We’re talking about knives.
Here are both standard knives. If skins were applied as usual. there will be a picture added on this model.
But take a look at this dope Karambit | Doppler! Instead of changing colors and adding paint, knife skins are meant to change the whole design of a knife. This little fellow is a copy of a real-life knife karambit with dope sapphire texture applied. By the way, Doppler is a skin with a dynamic pattern, here’s another example of the Karambit | Doppler:
And one more!
