In 2015, he interviewed allu — five years later, he decimated his whole team with an ace. He’s the guy who’s never inspected his skins on cs_summit 6. His name is Martin “STYKO” Styk, and he’s currently helping GODSENT hold the fifteenth line of HLTV’s world ranking.
Early Career
Martin “STYKO” Styk is one of the few Slovaks to play at the top level. He started his career at the age of 16 as a member of ex-BEASTS. However, it wasn’t until he joined nEophyte, the oldest eSports organization of his native Slovakia, that his talent started to really shine.
Martin was a member of nEophyte for a year — from mid-2014 to July 2015. With this team, he started regularly winning weekly tournaments. Along with his victories in weekly competitions came his success in the FACEIT Pro League. STYKO entered the league’s top 20 players in August, October, and November 2015.
First International Team
His career saw its next milestone when he joined HellRaisers in October 2015. It was the first “serious” team for STYKO. He defended HellRaiers’ colors two years, and then, in October 2017, he moved to mouz.
Over this time, Martin managed to partake in a Major, win at Copenhagen Games 2016, take second place at DreamHack Open Tours 2017, and reach the semi-finals of the StarLadder i-League StarSeries Season 3. A really great achievement for STYKO, however, was his team climbing up in the ranking. Together with STYKO, HellRaisers made their way into the world’s top ten teams!
STYKO’s transfer to mousesports marked a new page in the player’s career. Twice, Martin “STYKO” Stick was a member of the first team — and even managed to play for Cloud9 on loan in the meantime.
Together with mouz, he reached the peak of his mastery. This is evidenced by his gold at the StarLadder & i-League StarSeries Season 4 and ESG Tour Mykonos 2017 as well as top positions at ESL One: Belo Horizonte 2018, DreamHack Open Winter 2017, ESL Pro League Season 8 – Finals, and other tournaments.
Other International Teams
In August 2019, the player finally left the mouz lineup but continued playing for international teams. At first, he played in NoChance as a substitute but later he gained a permanent place in the team. Since September 2019, Martin has been playing for SMASH Esports.
Two months after the squad was formed, SMASH Esports signed a contract with GODSENT. STYKO’s still a member of the Swedish collective.
After leaving mousesports, the player maintained both his skills and his love of the game. In GODSENT, he managed to take first place at WePlay! Forge of Masters Season 2 and end up on the pedestal at DreamHack Open Sevilla 2019 and DreamHack Open Winter 2019.
At ESL Pro League Season 12: Europe, GODSENT didn’t manage to progress from the group stage. At this tournament, Martin “STYKO” Styk played on 19 maps with an average rating of 1.07 and a kill/death difference of +16. The penultimate position in the group brought his team 12,000 dollars.
Today, Martin is 24 years old. He’s in great shape and continues the seventh year of his career. Over his whole time on the pro stage, he’s managed to earn 300 000 dollars in prize money alone! By the way, he has a certain rare specimen in his inventory: he put a sticker with his autograph on a default M4A4 — despite he has skins for this gun. Well, to each their own.
