Summer sale has started on Steam. It’s a perfect time to buy games from your wish list at a significant discount. Or skins at bargain prices! Today, the CS.MONEY Blog is going to tell you everything about this sale and reveal the secret connection between Valve’s events and the prices of weapon finishes. Here we go!

Summer sale has begun

Steam has launched its traditional summer sale. For a second consecutive year, it brings Steam users endless joy with discounts on games and “technical hiccups.” The slogan of the event reads: “discounts on thousands of games!” In addition to discounts, all users can participate in a quest for ten games from the future. The sale ends July 7 at 17:00 UTC.

Best offers

Before we get to the mini-game that’s part of the summer sale, let’s take a look at a couple of amazing discounts the sale offers. Games currently sold at a greatly discounted price (50% or more) include:

  • Psychonauts 2 — 50% off;
  • The Outer Worlds — 70% off;
  • Portal 2 — 80% off;
  • It Takes Two — 60% off;
  • Ghostrunner — 60% off;
  • Hitman 3 — 60% off;
  • Red Dead Redemption 2 — 50% off;
  • Mafia: Definite Edition — 60% off;
  • Resident Evil Village — 50% off.

Tons of fantastic offers, just like during the previous other summer sales. If you’ve been meaning to spice up your Steam library, this summer sale is an excellent chance to do just that.

Clorthax’s quest

The Outer Worlds — 70% off

Besides the discounts, the Steam homepage is now home to a traveler from the future named Clorthax. He has stolen ten best games from the distant future and suggests that you find them. The difficult part is that instead of giving the game’s titles, the time traveler speaks with riddles. There are ten games and ten puzzles in total. By solving each one and finding all ten games, you can get a pack of Steam cosmetics: chat emojis, a profile icon, and avatar frames.

To start searching for games, just scroll through the page with Clorthax’s task to the end and click on the bottom left button.

Here are the riddles and the answers to them:

Hint 1: You’ll find riches in rhythm, and fame in six strings

But beware the tax burden axe mastery brings

The right game: Guitar Billionaire

Hint 2: Feels like a fish in water, a monarch in the district court.

The right game: Queen Butterscotch Civil Actions

Hint 3: A worm threatens with a hook. Don’t believe in luck? In vain you are so.

The right game: Perch does not bite 2022

Hint 4: Among competitors, there is an evil rumor: they say, your marvelous park turned out to be rotten.

The right game: dead gull zoo owner

Hint 5: That friend who prefers to find fault with words will plug real monsters into his belt.

The right game: By the way…: Frankenstein’s monster and more

Hint 6: You don’t need to make decisions, in a passive game you just need to wait.

The right game: Looks like someone screwed up

Hint 7: Your task here and there is to instruct the king so that he can take the throne as soon as possible, and even better even two!

The right game: Help the king find a toilet

Hint 8: The verbiage story with a sinister face will have a father to all pretentious games.

The right game: Ordination of Estme

Hint 9: A naive player only dreamed of one thing: two queens, three tambourines – a full house is ready.

The right game: New professional poker player

Hint 10: Hold me and you will suffer, let me go and I will stink!

The right game: Look don’t fart

Where do I look for these games?

Psychonauts 2 — 50% off

The main task of this event is to find all the games. It’s a bit tricky since you can’t just search the games by name — you’ll have to do some manual rummaging through. The good news is that these games are still pretty easy to find, as they are always in a prominent place in the right section, with the price specified in an unusual currency. For example, TH.4X.

You should look for the ten games in the following sections:

  • Guitar Billionaire: Arcade & Rhythm Games
  • Queen Butterscotch’s Civil Suits: City building and colonization
  • Perch does not bite 2022: Sports games
  • dead gull zoo owner: Simulators
  • By the way…: Frankenstein’s monster and more: Co-op games
  • Looks like someone screwed up: Casual game
  • Help the king find a toilet: Role-playing games
  • Ordination of Estme: Horror
  • New professional poker player: Products for VR
  • Look don’t fart: Strategies

A script to save time

If you just want to collect the rewards without racking your brains doing the searching — here’s the good news. Smart guys out there have already written a script that allows you to pass the event in a couple of clicks. The script looks like this.

To use it, open the Clorthax’s quest page and activate the console on it. In a browser, you can usually do so by pressing F12. After that, insert the script into the console and run it by pressing Enter. Done — now your inventory gets all sorts of Steam cosmetics, and all you have to do to get your profile badge is click the button at the bottom of the page.

The sale’s impact on skin prices

Even if you’re not going to buy yourself a game on Steam, the summer sale can still be a reason to do some shopping. Fact is, along with the traditional sale comes the traditional decrease in skin prices. For example, the price of the M4A1-S Cyrex Minimal Wear dropped by about 8–10% after the launch of the sale. Given the price drop after the rifle got nerfed, now is a great opportunity to buy some badass finishes for the M4 without overpaying a single cent!

The sale has affected not only the prices of M4A1-S skins. The prices of finishes for other weapons went down as well, so you can already start finding your bargains for those coveted additions to your inventory.
