Two years ago, Valve introduced in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive a new player filtering system – Trust factor. As conceived by the developers, this system should sort users so that cheaters play with cheaters and normal and adequate players with their own kind. So, what should we do with it?
How does it work?
Trust factor is a hidden analog of matchmaking rating, only instead of skill level, it shows “good” behavior. Valve is trying very hard to keep secret all the variables that are used to compute it, in order to avoid the unfair use of the system.
It works according to an algorithm similar to the selection of players. CS:GO matchmaking for each match is looking for players with approximately the same rank and approximately the same Trust factor. Good behavior will help raise the level of Trust factor and in each next game get more friendly and sane teammates.
How is it calculated?
As mentioned above, the exact formula for calculating the Trust factor is unknown, and so far it has not been established experimentally. Valve recommends playing as often as possible so that the system can collect more information and correctly identify your Trust factor. In addition, it is affected by the status of the Prime account. Obtaining this status definitely improves the Trust factor.
For new players, the Trust factor is not defined and is formed over time. However, initially, you are not assigned a specific level. Therefore, new players will not receive the first experience of the game in matches with 5 cheaters and 2 tantrums.
According to user observations, many parameters are used in the calculation, and not only in-game ones. Perhaps, but this is not confirmed, the calculation takes into account bans in other games, Steam level, and account age.
Can I turn it off?
No, you can not. According to Valve, the Trust factor system always works and applies to everyone. This means that when selecting players CS:GO now takes into account a number of factors: rank, availability of Prime status, level of Trust factor and other things.
Due to the fact that the Trust factor cannot be disabled or reset, as well as due to an incomprehensible settlement system, the loss of its points can become a serious problem. This can lead to days or even weeks of playing with toxic players. Therefore, for the best quality of the game, try to be friendly to other players, do not kill teammates, and do not leave the game before they are completed.
